Water is highly essential to our existence, so much so
that we like carrying it wherever we go. Hence, the easiest solution in this
case is to use plastic bottles. Even when we are away from home and feel
thirsty, our first preference is to find bottled drinking water. However,
experts suggest that bottled water is neither safe to drink nor hygienic,
though it is the easiest way to get water on the go & carry it with us.
Bottled water, be it from any brand can be very harmful
to our health and there are several evidences to show that to us. Though the
makers claim that mineralized bottled water is safe to drink, in reality it is
not even half as safe as water from a good RO water purifier. Also it
can quite easily contain traces of
plastic which deplete with time and end up in our bodies, causing serious
health issues. Most researchers have not found any major difference between tap
& bottled water, hence the best alternative to ensure your health is using
a water purifier at home. Though they are portable and transparent, they
are a big threat to our health & surrounding due to the following reasons:
1. Major Health Hazards- We already know that
plastic is recycled on & on till it loses its composition & texture; it
is the same for bottle. One bottle manufactured at a particular factory is
either circulated back to it after some time or is used by some other, however
the difference between them is invisible to the naked eye. Moreover, producers
of plastic bottles use more chemicals to add to their transparency, sheen and
overall packaging to make them look attractive, all of them have the capacity
to make us very sick. In fact, there are phthalates in the plastic which can
cause hormonal imbalances to lead to major health issues. There are many other
chemicals which can creep into your water over time and cause heath defects. In
fact, studies have also shown that a major share of them contain contaminating
agents above permissible limits. This means that even if you can trust the
provider of mineral water, you cannot trust the manufacturers of these bottles.
On the other hand a water filter is a much better alternative to keep
contaminants & diseases away.
2. Environmental Threats- Plastic is a substance
which is non-biodegradable and poses a serious treat to the environment,
therefore its usage is discouraged by public agencies & environmentalists
as well. Facts also suggest that only a small percentage of all the bottles are
recycled; the rest end up in drains, landfills and water-bodies not only clogging them but also polluting
them. Moreover, most people who buy them do not even finish all of the water in
the bottle. Plastic does not decompose on its own and no matter where it is
dumped, it continues to pollute its adjacent area, harming the flora &
fauna of the area. Hence, using bottled water is not an environment-friendly
practice as well.
3. Not much different from tap water
We often resort to bottled water in times of crisis
because we think it is safer than tap water, but evidence shows that there is
hardly any difference between the two. Very often tap water is filter by
ordinary means and only minerals are added to the water to make it exorbitantly
pricey. Yes, even the ones which claim to provide you water from a 'fresh
spring' actually contain the same tap water packaged well. Else, can you image
the money needed to bring gallons of water from a spring into our homes? Water
purifiers are therefore a much safer choice to obtain pure & healthy
drinking water for your entire family.
4. Highly Priced
How does it feel to buy a fluid which is abundant on our
planet and is all around us? Redundant right. Moreover, after learning
that tap & bottled water are essentially the same thing, buying the latter
would be foolish. It is just the clever marketing which has shaped our thoughts
in such a way. On the other hand, water purifiers are a much safer &
economical option as well.
Hence, bottled water must be avoided at all costs since
they are harmful to our health. Most people cannot even differentiate between
tap & bottled water. Do not let advertisements make a fool out of you,
think wisely.
